663 million people in the world live without access to clean water. That's nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide, or twice the population of the United States. The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their family. Not only does walking for water keep children out of school and parents from earning money, but the water often carries diseases that can make everyone sick.
But access to clean water and improved sanitation changes everything - especially for women and children!
That's why 4others is raising awareness about the water crisis, and facilitating cost-effective and sustainable work that eradicates the problem in targeted regions of Africa. We work with carefully-screened implementing partners to launch and sustain water projects in impoverished rural areas and urban slum communities. By providing practical assistance to individuals and groups, and financial resources to our partners, we are helping thousands of people each year improve their health through safe drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene.
