BACKGROUND:

The COVID-19 pandemic, a long succession of natural disasters, and a persistent civil war have led to an acute food crisis and severe inflation in Ethiopia. Since the first case of COVID-19 was announced and the subsequent measures to prevent its spread were put in place, more than 75% of the labor force in the informal sector have lost jobs, including every parent and guardian in our Hope 4others program who make their living as daily laborers.

As one father shared, "My family faced a great challenge during this corona time. The state of emergency in Ethiopia slowed down all petty trade. At the same time, the price of food items and other essentials have escalated. But God knew our problem and gave us 4others and SVO to save the lives of the people who became empty handed during the pandemic.... Truly, more deaths would have been reported if we did not get this relief food aid!... May God bless all of the people who support us through this difficult time!"

War in Ukraine

The crisis in Ukraine continues. On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of this sovereign country. More than 2.5 million people have already fled west toward neighboring countries. These displaced families are experiencing great needs and danger as they seek shelter from their war-torn communities. And the Ukrainian citizens who've stayed behind to help defend their country also face extreme danger.

4others has partnered with Direct Relief, an organization with a long history of responding to humanitarian crises and extensive experience working in Ukraine. This has allowed for a rapid and coordinated response, providing critical assistance to Ukrainians affected by conflict. We invite you to #StandwithUkraine by supporting their efforts:
