The Big Squat
What do I do? When you sign up to squat, you commit to raise funds and awareness for improving sanitation and hygiene for children living in poverty. To highlight the need for private toilets and an open defecation free (ODF) environment, squatters will sit on toilets in public for ONE HOUR along a busy street. Ask your friends to support the cause by giving a donation. Each squatter raises donations to contribute to new Boys & Girls Latrines at a primary school in Ethiopia. We'll even set up your very own fundraising page (sample) to make it easy to spread the word!
Don't worry-- you'll be fully clothed at all times. In fact, have fun with this! Come in costume and draw even more attention to the cause.
Yes, it might be uncomfortable to sit on a loo in public. Just remember this: Your one hour of embarrassment will eliminate the embarrassment and health risks that hundreds of students and teachers face every day in Ethiopia. So let's do this! It's time to raise a stink for sanitation!
When: World Toilet Day, November 19th, 1-7 pm
Where: 937 Minnesota Ave, San Jose, CA
Use the form below to sign up for the Big Squat. Don't forget to select your "potty time." Our goal is to have 10 toilets occupied for each hour. Spread the word and get your friends on board, too! As soon as we receive your registration, we'll set up your very own fundraising page to make it easy and simple for your friends to donate to your cause. If each toilet raises $250 per hour, we'll raise $17,500.00. Let's do this!
